IPB in the United States
In a year that saw a record number of 156,000 patent applications under the WIPO PCT, inventors from the United States of America consolidated their first position in 2007. With more than 52,000 PCT applications, inventors and industries from the USA represent 33.5%, which is a 2.6% increase over 2006, of all applications in the last year.
When it comes to the distribution of patent applications, US inventors are leading in information technology, telecommunications and chemical engineering in the years of 2000 to 2004.
As the USA is the market leader in the patent business, IPB has established a liaison office in Boston to be as close to the market and decision makers as possible.
Selected patents
- DNA Detector*: The presented invention protects a technique to proof DNA sequences and is used as an analysis of genetic material. This process enables a faster, less expensive and a more reliable method than the previously used system, which could possibly be replaced by this innovation in the long-run.
- Flame retardant*: Due to new legal regulations relating to toxicity and environmental aspects, the focus of interest has shifted towards the non halogenated flame retardants. The innovation claims the property right for two new halogen-free classes of substances, which are interesting targets for new eco-friendly, non-halogenated flame retardants.
- Impact modifier*: The new polymer additive based on nano technology is added to the reactive diluents to increase the transparency, impact strength and pull-out and shear strength. The technology can be adapted to various applications via building a block strategy.
- Cellulose from biomass: MEA extraction*
- Whole-cell catalyst: biotechnological active substance factory*
- New method for direct oxidation of olefins*
- Organic electronics: manufacturing technology of the 2nd generation*
